kinsey
(kĭn’zē)
american biologist and zoologist noted for his studies of human s-xuality. he published s-xual behavior in the human male in 1948 and s-xual behavior in the human female in 1953 (commonly known as the kinsey reports), based on interviews with 18,500 americans about their s-xual practices. the reports revealed a greater variety of s-xual behavior than had previously been suspected and received widespread attention in the scientific community and among the general public. the reports have been criticized for their statistical limitations and especially for the restricted nature of the sample, consisting almost exclusively of white, middle-cl-ss men and women, primarily under age 35.
