Associative Fugue

not to be confused with dissociative fugue, a period of disconnection from real life brought on by trauma (an example being renée zellweger’s character in nurse betty, who blocks out a murder she witnesses by believing herself part of a hospital drama playing on tv).

basically the same as a wiki-hole but allowing for other sites, like youtube or tv tropes – a state of mental distancing from the here and now brought on by clicking so many links related to what you were looking up that by the time you’ve made it back to reality you can’t remember what you came in for and dinner’s ruined.
“i had a m-ssive -ssociative fugue last night. i was looking up something on youtube about dangerous snakes and found myself an hour and a half later watching clips from a fish called wanda.”
