banked track


an oval surface for skating or bicycle racing. original roller derby used such a surface. the pitch or angle of the curves decreases the centripetal forces created by the object in motion. size depends on the type of race occuring on the track.
the speeds possible on a banked track far out pace those on a flat surface. as the pitch of the turns increases so does the speed potential.
