chaebol

a south korean term for a large family owned business conglomerate. typically used in kdramas, some famous chaebol story lines are in the dramas “boys over flowers”, “the heirs”, “secret garden” and “coffee prince”.
these dramas typically are stories of a very rich young male who is the heir to a large business that falls in love with a girl that is “low” on the social status at least, in the parents opinion.
“oh man i hate chaebol love stories, they’re all so cliche and predictable!”
