Chinese Baptism
the practice of a chinese family drowning a female baby on account of their government’s “one-child policy.” this is often due to the necessity of having the child -ssist in farm labor and provide for the parents in their old age.
when the farming couple gave birth to a baby girl, they decided to have a chinese baptism and hope the next one was a boy.
