originating in british schools, this is the acting of taking another’s possession without owner’s consent; albeit on a smaller scale. for example, you could ch-r- someone’s detention slip (usual reply: “why should i care? you’ve just ch-r-d my ticket to h-ll. thanks.”), whilst you couldn’t ch-r- something larger, eg. a quarry.

the chorification of this possession is almost always accompanied with a loud, high pitched squeal of “ch-r-d!”
lawyer: this, you honour, is the knife found at the scene of the crime.
jury member: -swipes bag- ch-r-d!!! -runs off-
judge: court adjourned on account of … that n-b over there.
colloquial british term for the act of stealing or having stolen an item of interest. the term depicts the action of theft used in informal conversation, typically amongst youths. originating in scottish high schools the term has widely become used throughout england and is now recognised in most of the united kingdom however the word does not appear in the oxford english dictionary and would be considered ‘slang terminology’.

example 2. (in conversation)

boy 1: “i’ve never seen that before, did you ch-r- it?”

boy 2: “aye, i ch-r-d it from the school”.
