crapronym


an acronym (series of letters that represents multiple words that are frequently used together) that ignores a word or uses a letter other than the first in a word, so that it may sound better. a cr-pr-nym may also use a commonly ignored word such an article.
acronym: nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) – uses every word
cr-pr-nym: selection of ligands by exponential enrichment (selex) – uses both “e” and “x” from “exponential’ and ignores “enrichment”
