Atrioventricular dissociation

atrioventricular dissociation

atrioventricular dissociation n.
A condition in which the atria and ventricles contract independently, especially as resulting from the slowing of an atrial pacemaker or the acceleration of a ventricular pacemaker.

  • Atrioventricular extrasystole

atrioventricular extrasystole atrioventricular extrasystole n. A premature contraction of the heart in which the stimulus arises from either the A-V node or A-V bundle. Also called A-V extrasystole.

  • Atrioventricular groove

atrioventricular groove atrioventricular groove n. See coronary sulcus.

  • Atrioventricular interval

atrioventricular interval atrioventricular interval n. The time from the beginning of atrial systole to the beginning of ventricular systole as measured on an electrocardiogram.

  • Atrioventricular nodal extrasystole

atrioventricular nodal extrasystole atrioventricular nodal extrasystole n. A premature beat arising from the A-V node and leading to a simultaneous or almost simultaneous contraction of atria and ventricles. Also called A-V nodal extrasystole, nodal extrasystole.

  • Atrioventricular nodal rhythm

atrioventricular nodal rhythm atrioventricular nodal rhythm n. The cardiac rhythm that results when the heart is controlled by the atrioventricular node in which the impulse arises in the atrioventricular node, ascends to the atria, and descends to the ventricles more or less simultaneously. Also called A-V nodal rhythm, nodal bradycardia, nodal rhythm.
