A former designation for syndrome characterized by increased susceptibility to fatigue, dyspnea, rapid pulse, precordial pain, and anxiety, observed especially in soldiers on active duty. Also called DaCosta’s syndrome, effort syndrome, irritable heart, soldier’s heart.
