Bienville, coined from Greek nymphe “bride” (see nymph) + mania “madness” (see mania). Perhaps influenced by earlier French nymphomanie. Defined as “a female disease characterized by morbid and uncontrollable sexual desire.” Cf. also nympholepsy.
