subcostal artery sub·cos·tal artery (sŭb-kŏs’təl)
An artery with its origin in the thoracic aorta, with distribution from the inferior to the twelfth rib.

- Subcostal nerve
subcostal nerve n. The ventral branch of the 12th thoracic nerve, supplying parts of the abdominal muscles and giving off cutaneous branches to the skin of the lower abdominal wall and to the gluteal region.
- Subcostal plane
subcostal plane n. A horizontal plane passing through the lower limits of the tenth costal cartilages, marking the boundary between the hypochondriac and epigastric regions and between the lateral and umbilical regions.
