Tarsal artery


tarsal artery n.

An artery with its origin in the dorsal artery of the foot, with distribution to the tarsal joints and the short extensor muscle of the toes, and with anastomoses to the arcuate, peroneal, lateral plantar, and anterior lateral malleolar arteries; lateral tarsal artery.

An artery that is one of two small branches of the dorsal artery of the foot, with distribution to the medial malleolar network; medial tarsal artery.
