diana ross

diana ross (born march 26, 1944) is an american pop/r&b singer and actress. ross is one of the most successful female singers of her era, due to her solo work and her tenure as lead singer of motown girl group the supremes during the 1960s. her princ-p-l lead vocals are partly responsible for an amazing 12 number one hits and countless other top 20 hits, many of them consecutive while with the supremes. they gave the beatles serious compet-tion and were definitely much more fun to look at. she also had many top 20 hits after going solo in 1970
in her heyday (1963 to 1981) diana ross was also a spectacularly beautiful and slender black woman (if fashion models could sing, she is what one of them would have looked like) with gorgeous big brown eyes, an angular face, perfect diamond pearly white smile, incredible poise, and glittery fashion style. she is most famous for her pleasant but shrill high-pitched smooth as gl-ss distinctive vocal style, and high fashion gowns designed by the likes of super famous designers like bob mackie. more recently (2000’s) she’s famous for cupping and bouncing rapper lil kim’s partially exposed b–b on mtv’s music video awards. it is not clear why she remained a household name for so long. diana’s distinct, but versatile music hits allowed her to stay on the music charts much longer than many singers of today. she could easily go from pop/ r and b to jazz, light country, sultry ballads, disco without “skipping” a beat. named in 1993 by guiness book or world records as the most successful female chanteuse ever, she has since been dethroned by another mega-diva singer named madonna, in terms of popularity and music units sold.
