Down the Line
a broad all encomp-ssing phrase used to describe anywhere that a person does not usually reside.
in south auckland new zealand (an area heavily influenced by us gansta culture) it is essentially a ‘place’ being anywhere except where they are supposed to be.
q: where is your old man?
a: he is down the line
q: why did you miss your court case?
a: ‘i was down the line’.
refers to the line of beach houses where university of rhode island students gather to have one big block party at the beach. parties get so out of control at the line that every keg in rhode island has to be registered
