in the west indies, especially guyana and trinidad, the term dugla is used to describe multi-racial people. while generally used to describe those of indian and african ancestry, the term can also be extended to include those claiming portugese or native american heritage. a dugla is can often be distinguished from a person solely of one race by his/her distinct hair of large curls (as opposed to the more co-rs- curls of blacks and straighter hair of indians)
