the first use was on craigslist in 2005 when a poster displayed and image from a thrones record in which the word “thrones” due to intense caligraphy looked like the word “earoneg.” the example can be seen here: forums.craigslist.org/?id=35080826
ever since then, when a picture is posted and needs more explanation, “earoneg” is posted and the explanation comes shortly after
