faux shadow

for example:
an author of a novel will embed clues in his plot of what might happen in the future just to play with the reader’s head, but in the end, the “faux shadow” or implied future will never happen. something else will. more than a plot twist.
1.) dude! that girl’s suicide is clearly a faux shadow, she clearly is alive and watching from the shadows.
2.)this d-mn author is giving clues that the main character will die, but hey, i’m too smart to fall for that, he’s clearly fauxshadowing.

note: fauxshadowing = plural form
