FOBU
fobu is an acronym for ‘fear of breaking up’ — a common relationship dilemma caused when someone in a miserable, dead-end relationship becomes more afraid of the projected pain and inconvenience of a breakup than they are of the actual, often greater, pain of staying in an unsatisfying relationship.
“my friend has serious fobu and refuses to leave her loser boyfriend because she’s worried she won’t meet anyone else and will end up alone.”
