two people who are friends but are competing for the same thing.
bob and jim were best of friends, but they both wanted that scholarship that harvard was offering, therefore, they were frivals.
the two atheletes looked at the finish line and then back at each other. they both wanted to punch each other in the face and embrace each other at the same time. being frivals can be so complicated!
