gay’-tard, adj. combination of gay- and r-t-rd. used derogatively to refer to someone who is acting gay- and in an idiotic or r-t-rded fashion. the term is rarely used to refer to one’s s-xual orientation, but may be acceptable to use within certain groups (i.e. – a group of friends who are h-m-s-xual). the term is a development in the late 1990’s, combining two slurs often heard in high school hallways, “r-t-rd” and “gay.”
