Genderalization
a generalization one makes about the gender of another based on their profession.
“my gynecologist cancelled my appointment”
“was she sick?”
“he’s sick, way to make a genderalization”
when someone makes a generalization about a person’s gender subjectivity. this can happen in many ways, particularly when it is -ssumed that a person must act within the prescribed gender roles that are socially constructed.
also used as a verb: “to genderalize someone”
person 1:girls are so much hotter than boys.
person2: that’s such a genderalization! but also true.
or
person 1: why is your baby boy wearing pink? pink is for girls!
person 2: don’t make genderalizations about babies and colors. maybe my baby likes pink, so what?
