gexit
a name given by the news media for the possible exit of germany from the european economic community (eu), along the same lines as britain’s brexit.
german economists have “done the math”, and concluded that their country has been contributing far more money than it has been receiving from the current arrangement. germans are understandably annoyed by this, especially in light of current problems with immigration and other issues. gexit is being seriously considered by the german government and people, due in part to shifting att-tudes regarding eu.
gexit is the worst possible nightmare of socialists on both sides of the atlantic, who denounce it with their worst rhetoric. greece is especially concerned with the loss of eu’s biggest “sugar daddy.” us president obama, in the twilight of his administration, has “warned” germany of the “dire consequences” of leaving eu.
the gexit would not likely to affect the united states very much due to solid relations with germany; dealing with the germans as a separate ent-ty would not be that much different than dealing with them as an eu member.
