Ghost-mapping
ghost-mapping means using “gps cloak” to keep your mobile phone’s true location private without having to drop off your social network’s shared map.
bob, an iphone user, is part of the loopt social network that allows friends to know where each other are at all times. bob decides to ghost-map and go to the mall. he uses “gps cloak” for ghost-mapping. he he cloaks his true “ghost lōc” location at the mall while his phone’s gps broadcasts to his loopt friends that he is at the gym.

bob, a blackberry user, also uses ubertwitter (which incorporates location information with the popular twitter social network)and allows his followers to know where he is located at any given ‘tweet’. bob decides to “ghost on the grid” and go to the mall. he uses “gps cloak” for ghostmapping. he cloaks his true “ghost lōc” location at the mall and changes it to the local fitness center, and then updates his twitter that he is headed to the gym to work out. all of his followers will see that his phone’s gps says he is at the gym while he enjoys privacy at the mall!
