a novel practice engaged in by cyberspammers, who abuse free sites like opendiary and livejournal by creating pages that have links to their websites. since the google scoring system that elevates a page to the top of a list depends on the number of pages that link to a target site, the practice supposedly raises a page’s ranking on google (and other search engines). it is prohibited by most of the sites where it is practiced.
