gum trees
a name for all of the trees on south street in downtown philadelphia, where every tree on the street has been covered in chewed gum. before they were cut down in 2008, new contributions were made regularly by gum-chewing p-ssersby.
the gum trees were one of the many things that gave south street its charm.
