haute

haute means “high” in french. it is pr-nounced “hote”, not “hot”. it is used most commonly with the word “couture” (pr-nounced catore) which means “fashion” in french. thus, haute couture means high fashion.

it does not, however, mean hawt, hot, s-xy, whatever. people who use haute in place of those words are idiots who seriously need to read the real dictionary instead of definithing.com.
that vivienne westwood trench is so haute couture.
haute

…actually does have a meaning on its own, and doesn’t have to be paired with “couture”. it means “fashionably elegant” or “high cl-ss” or simply “fancy”…
haute
adj.

fashionably elegant: “in washington, haute gastronomy is at least as important as the national economy”…

…please get it straight before calling someone else an idiot!
adj.
1. to excel at being fabulous in every appropriately trend-setting way possible, adapting to the ebb and flow of social consciousness and the popular status quo, enhancing ones natural beauty in the process.

n.
2. a barometer of sensuality and fashion.
“she looked kinda’ haute in her mysp-ce pic, but she turned out to be a psycho-hosebeast.”
1. used to describe something that is ‘hot’; not paris hilton ‘hot’ juss haute; used by people who said the phrase before paris hilton banned anyone else saying it.
a friend: “how’s this top look with this micromini?”

you: “thats haute.”
past hawt, shmexy, seckzy, secksy and secksi combined, haute is the only way to describe tons of celebrities who are so hot they almost knock you over when you see them.

also another expression used in the same way as hot; could also be used to describe erotic or semi-erotic situations (much like the word hot tends to do).
some really haute celebrities are: jake gyllenhaal, adam levine, ewan mcgregor and about a million others.

oh my god, guys, wouldn’t it be so haute if those two started holding hands? they’re holding hands in my mind! look guys look!
we often refer to things as hot, haute is so much more bourgois.

fashion police, hamptons, and all that jazz
that jude law is so haute right now!
whats haute, whats not
