highku
a type of short form zen poetry that’s the same as haiku (ie., 5-7-5 syl per line) but which has reference to altered states of consciousness.
when the doors of perception are thrown wide or torn off their fasteners; short verse constructs such as highku can capture moments, realizations and altered glimpses of other states of consciousness.
a standard haiku, only written when high.
my highku:
the great octopus,
strangles with his tentacles,
and shows no mercy.
a sub-form of fratku, which is itself a variant of haiku. a three-line poem about marijuana. must follow a strict 5-7-5 syllable count.
sample high-ku:
herbal remedy:
rid yourself of all your ills.
then laugh your -ss off.
i love the u.s.,
it’s as perfect as i, though
not nearly so high.
