hollywood treatment
when a mainstream film producer adapts an original idea/story/novel into a film, but compromises many plot points for the purpose of making money off of the film to a larger more general audience; much of this is in dismay to the original writer who in the end has little control over what happens
author: aw man! what happened to my story? they ruined it completely! this man wasn’t supposed to die! and what’s with this love triangle?
onlooker: you got the hollywood treatment man!
