Huawei
a chinese telecommunications company founded in the 80’s. in the past 5 years, it rose to grab huge market shares in europe (3g network, networking equipment, optical communication equipment, etc). its chief compet-tors include alcatel-lucent, nortel, cisco.
it hires mostly chinese masters or phd’s in electrical engineering, communication networks, and computer hardware. it’s known for its demanding 20-hour work days, and its no-nonsense approach to business and compet-tion.
it’s currently the fastest growing telecommuncations company in the world, and has surp-ssed both nortel and alcatel-lucent in market share in continental europe and asia.
while nortel just filed for bankruptcy, huawei reported record q4 earnings for 2008.
huawai is a microcosm of the hardworking att-tude and the resultant success of china.
