said of a traditional chilean food similar to mexican tamales. consist of a corn flour paste filled in with sauce an meat. humitas vary from traditional tamales because they can also contain egg.
the word is believed to come from huevo-tamales, but chileans have cut the pr-nunciation to hue-males, later to humales finally humitas.
