kyudo
– kyudo literally means “the way of the bow”. it is the j-panese martial art of archery
– kyudo is often described as “standing meditation”. the student of kyudo learns to control the breathing and the mind, not becoming oblivious to his surroundings, but rather becoming acutely aware of them. this teaches the pract-tioner to react calmly and resolutely to his environment.
all kyudo archers hold the bow in their left hand and draw the string with their right, so that all archers face the higher position (kamiza) while shooting
