lexapro (escitalopram) is an antidepressant drug from a cl-ss of drugs known as the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor used to treat major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder. lexapro was derived from the ssri celexa (citalopram) in 1997 by forest and lundbeck pharmaceuticals because the patent on celexa was expiring. neither drugs are derivitives of prozac (fluoxetine), though the drugs belong to the same cl-ss.

an ssri that like many others, carry great risk of s-xual side effects, fatigue and weight gain. has fewer side effects than prozac generally, but prozac makes you lose weight in the beginning.
i took lexapro for 6 months and gained 15 pounds even though i was eating less and exercising. wtf
an antidepressant that gives you diahrea. works way better when ground up and snorted, believe me.
