McSpud
used in the motion pictury industry, the mcspud is a piece of hardware that has a 5/8″-27 threaded male end, used to attach standard microphone holders to. the other end is a smooth 5/8″ baby spud which can be inserted into any standard grip head.
the mcspud allows a rigging grip to mount a microphone to virtually anywhere when used in conjuction with standard 5/8″ mounts, clamps and rigs.
1) mount a microphone to a palm tree: use a baby nail-on plate, grip head, mcspud and a microphone holder.
2) mount a microphone to a jungle gym: attach a standard cardellini clamp to the jungle gym, add the grip head, mcspud, and microphone holder.
