Mingball
a word of gaelic origin with no exact literal translation. used by umpires in gaa intermidiate and inter-county matches to signal points, which occur when the football or sliothar goes over the crossbar.
when a point is scored,ie,when the sliothar/football is thrown over the crossbar,the umpires on either side of the goalposts lift a white flag,in his case,a mingball,to signal to the audience that a point has been scored. for more info see the gaa official website or refer to the gaa official rule and guide book.
