monkey factor
an important component in american politics that usually keeps one of the major two political parties in power for a maximum of about eight years. what happens in that time period is that an administration run by the party in power (aka: the establishment party) gets so corrupt that the opposition party could run a monkey against the establishment party and win.
the win is often by a landslide and the deposed establishment party often has no clue what happened (often followed by a period of denial). it doesn’t matter what the two parties are called; but typically the establishment party has built-in “insurgency-proofing” in their primary process to ensure that the party elite’s “anointed candidate” is the only one who survives and that the primary is basically a coronation. the best way to beat a corrupt establishment is to run a very populist candidate who keeps his/her promises and counters the elitist att-tudes of the establishment party.
some say that the democrats took the monkey factor to the extreme in 2008 when they ran a real monkey for potus.
others say the same thing about the monkey factor and trump.
