based on conversation skills recommended in crucial conversations, “muremupu” is an abbreviation for mutual respect & mutual purpose. if you are in a conversation that seems to be moving toward conflict or is otherwise becoming emotionally charged, one of the best ways to move forward productively is to reestablish mutual respect & mutual purpose. one of the easiest ways to do that is to start a response to someone’s emotional reaction with a reference to your desire to “reestablish muremupu.”
