Nick Scratch
noun–one who seeks the truth by playing devil’s advocate. a cutting and acerbic wit. particularly, one who uses facts and reason to expose the illogic and factually fraudulent fanaticism of extremists. from the combination of old new england slang terms for the devil (“old nick,” “mr. scratch,” etc.) and the idea of sharp and cutting wit “nicking” and “scratching” the intellectual dullness of the pointless but persistent political extremists.
