n-z- purge of the sturmabtielung (storm troopers) branch of hitler’s supporters. during this night in 1934, heinrich himmler and the ss (schutz staffel) -ss-ssinated much of the sa leadership, including ernst rohm. rohm was one of hitler’s early supporters and head of the brown shirts.
