to cause something to explode violently, especially orders of magnitude higher than intended.
the parthenon (in athens, greece) was destroyed by the venetians in 1687 after a stray mortar ignited a large ammo dump the ottomans had stored inside. the resulting explosion was much larger than the mortar sh-ll by itself, so it could be said that the venetians ‘noomed’ the parthenon.
can also be used as an objectified verb: “let’s noom it!”
