Nurse Ratched
the antagonist in the 1962 ken kesey novel “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest” and in the 1975 movie of the same t-tle. the overbearing, cruel, perfectionist nurse (ranked number 5 in afi’s list of greatest movie villains) rules the asylum in the story with an iron fist.
the name “nurse ratched” can be applied as an insult to a person (usually a woman) of similar characteristics.
“no tv for the rest of the week and i’m coming up there to unplug the playstation once your father gets home. you’ll get worse until i see an a on your next report card” mom said.
