refers to the “gray to black” market trade in human body parts of dubious to illegal origin for research and transplantation purposes. once confined to “dark future” novels, this practice has become reality due to the small supply of available human organs and the large demand. in some countries like india, this practice stinks of -ssault, kidnapping, and sometimes murder. it is a dirty trade and can be very lucrative. the term is derived from the term “bootlegging”, which refers to the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages.
