Pit Monkey
describes one who lives up north; especially if they come from an old mining town. monkey being a term for someone who does a repetetive job… for example, a cad monkey works at a computer all day drwing pictures.
one whose ancestors may have worked down the pits… monkey of the pit… ‘pit monkey’.
a person whose sole purpose in life is to clear away music stands, lights, etc. before locking up the orchestra pit for the night.
i still remember that one summer when my brother’s life consisted of being a pit monkey at a local theatre.
