pity clicking
pity clicking is the act of clicking on youtube videos that include celebrities that are still trying to hold on to their fame in the age of the internet by giving them clicks that are not from bots. deep down, there still is love for that celebrity, and yet, their unwillingness to adapt to changes in culture and an insistence on “social skills” or lack thereof and the quality and profitability of content has ultimately been the bane of their existence because that inflexible mentality has eroded the originality and genuineness of mainstream content.
if the media, entertainment business, and guilds want people to be doing more than just pity clicking, they need to accept and embrace cultural change as a chance to discover things creatively when many people had become jaded by the idea that it has all been done before.
