a singaporean slang meaning to skip school (or other activities) or to play truant.
for example,

“samir is ponning school today”
using tampons soaked in vodka to get drunk quickly and hide the smell. other forms of liquor may be used, as well as other orifices.

derived as a shortened version of “tamponning.”
i think kevin k is drunk, but he’s not drinking! he must be ponning.
