musical artist from russia. mostly prevelant on the indie scene until her single “fidelity,” which reached video-watching fame on youtube and was then voted #1 song of 2006 on sirius radio’s left of center program.

spektor experiments with several non-mainstream vocal techniques, most famously the glottal stop from “fidelity.” she’s also just pretty experimental in general, known for her poetic lyrics and softer sounds.

some of her songs are really just weird. others are really just nice. she says she’s written over 700 songs, so you have a long time to look for something that works for you.
non-musical person: g-d, regina spektor can’t sing. have you heard her? she’s so annoying!

musical person: actually, i respect her nearly perfect tone, rhythm-sensitive ear, and singing ability.

a respectable indie artist with a sweet, unique voice. has the ability to amze youngsters all around.
regina spektor’s song “us” is truely refreshing to hear after all the cr-ppy emo mainstream songs.

i went to a regina spektor concert and it was f-cking amazing.
the best singer ever. such a beautiful voice, it has the power to mend the most shattered of broken hearts. regina sings about life, and her characters. her music isn’t limited to her own experiences, and her own life, but rather like a true poet, regina the poet and regina’s characters are -not- one in the same.

regina spektor takes extremely depressing topics and sings them in upbeat and quirky tones. an example being “dance anthem of the 80’s” regina sings about an adolescent girl whose life has been consumed by s-x, to the point where it is all she really knows. another example is “chemo limo” which has a chorus sung so fast it doesn’t even sound like english anymore, yet the song is about a mother who has been diagnosed with cancer. regina’s upbeat tone in these songs emphasizes grief in what they’re about.

all in all, regina spektor is amazing. she is a fine artist, and in my opinion, the best artist that has ever made music in the alternative genre, and– also in my opinion– in any genre.

a beautiful, talented female singer and pianist who has released numerous alb-ms. she was born in the u.s.s.r and moved to the bronx, new york at a young age. mika did a similar thing – moving from lebanon to paris as a baby and then to london at the age of 9. perhaps this is what makes people so amazing.
