religiomedy
a category or way of describing media (film, books, plays, etc.) that is lighthearted and comedic in tone, yet has an underlying theme of religion or uses a religious backdrop. religiomedies often tend to be sacrilicious, but are never meant to taken too seriously as a slight against g-d or as ridicule.
1. the movie “dogma” was one of the best religiomedies i’ve ever seen.
2. steve’s play at loyola academy was a great religiomedy, not to mention very sacrilicious.
3. catholicism is a favored target of many religiomedies.
