schnaut
an old-world (1300s) austrian dinner dish made from the snout of a dog. often meticulously prepared, schnaut-making techniques have been handed down through generations of schnauthoffen – the people of lower south-southeastern austria. schnaut is frequently referred to as “crazy, old grandma’s dish,” or, “what the f-ck is that?”
due to modern restrictions and the advancement of social mores on eating dog, schnaut became p-sse, and then illegal, in 1922.
