derogatory term for glasgow rangers f.c.supporters, due to their penchant for rioting and generally sullying the name of scottish football supporters.

refers to sectarian bigotry and violence in scotland between the protestant and roman catholic religious sects. it is intimately -ssociated with glasgow’s biggest football teams, celtic and rangers: fans committing acts of violence are often called “scotland’s shame” by the press, players and managers.
the term is also often hijacked by each team to describe the other, as each sees the other as a traitor to the country’s true ident-ty.
the term was used by scottish post-rock band mogwai as the t-tle for a song, in reference to the sectarian violence.

scotland’s shame is a commonly used name for celtic football club of glasgow. the name originated due to the clubs history of child abuse. the clubs officials knew about it all & never went to the police, instead manager jock stein tried to cover the scandal up.
