scruburbs
noun; an area that is almost a respectable suburb, but is just a little “off”. maybe creepy, dirty, dingy, etc. likely a suburban area that’s going downhill and becoming a ghetto. often peopled with scrubs, or just looks and feels like a scrubby version of suburbia.
man, this new house i bought seemed like it was in a nice area. the neighbors have flowers in their lawns, cute little yards for every house. but, now that i’ve moved in and met the people here, i realize they have all given up on life and i can’t leave my house after dark. d@mnit, i’m stuck in the scruburbs!
