shabby chic:
a style using worn and deteriorated items to achieve an elegant overall effect
chicanery:
trickery or deception by quibbling or sophistry
shabby chicanery:
constant failed attempts at using second-hand items in one’s home decor to achieve a look of false elegance. result is invariably much more salvation army than apres-la-guerre.
another broke down la-z-boy? enough with the shabby chicanery, already.
the act of excessively integrating ratty found items into one’s home decor in a vain effort to obtain that understated elegance known as shabby chic.
i can’t believe this – you dragged home another one of those flea-bitten sofas from a trash-pile? i’ve just about had it up to here with all this shabby chicanery.
